In 2009, starting with vintage Ornellaia 2006, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia started a project called Vendemmia d’Artista, a marriage between the world of contemporary art and that of wine, and one which celebrates the unique character of each new vintage of Ornellaia, the flagship wine of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia. Every year, an internationally-known artist will be commissioned to create a work of art that captures the essence of the wine, the individuality of the vintage and its specific personality. Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista project aims to recapture the tradition and value of artistic patronage in a modern-day key, tying it to the birth place of Ornellaia and the specific character of the individual harvest. An essential part of the project includes the creation of an exclusive label, designed by the artist chosen to interpret the characteristics of the vintage, and which dresses an extremely limited portion of the production of Double Magnums (3 litres), Imperials (6 litres) and a unique Salmanazar bottle (9 litres). Every bottle is individually numbered and personally signed by the artist.
